1998

highway meat is founded

Highway Meat started in 1998 from a small rented butcher shop at Kurralta Park next to the ANZAC Highway, inspiring the name “Highway” Meat.

2000 - 2001

Rapid Growth Spurs Torrensville Relocation

Business grew rapidly and within the next two years. We were soon looking for an alternate site. In 2001, we moved to our new custom built meat processing factory at Torrensville.

2003

Company expands to Adjacent Factory

The business continued to grow rapidly. In 2003, we acquired the factory next door and we had been operating from there till today.

2015 - current

product range expands as business flourishes

Over the years, we have added range of products including ducks and seafood, building a reputation as one of South Australia’s leading meat wholesalers.

We’re solar-powered,
for a sustainable future.

Inline with our ambition to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and help mitigate climate change, we installed a 30KW solar system in 2015. Two years later, with the help of the state government, we became one of the first few wholesale butchers to install additional 50KW solar system. We had also upgraded all our lighting and refrigeration systems to be energy efficient.
